FLIGHT CASE COLOUR

3D Cases love our Flight Cases in Colours

Today we all live in a world where at some point colour will be a part of it and affect us in our everyday lives.

OK, when you think of flight cases maybe it's not the first thing that pops into your mind but in a time when the only flight cases around were brown or black we introduced colours allowing flight cases to be colour coded for the first time.

Orange (keyboards) - downstage left, red (first guitar) upstage right, blue (drums) upstage centre. With the lack of a local interpreter on stage, coloured flight cases allowed the local stage crew in other countries to unload the trucks and place the flight cases in the right area on stage, ready for the technical crew.

We also offer Full Colour Printing of logos and images using the latest UV technology.

3D Flight Cases - Rigid PVC

PVC Flight Cases
Light Leather Grain Emboss

The Rigid PVC we use in our flight case construction is embossed with a pleasing light leather grain finish before being pressure bonded to the substrate. We can offer this finish to our lighter 7mm flight cases, our standard 10mm cases and racks along with our most robust 13mm flight cases.

At the moment we offer Rigid PVC coatings in a choice of eleven vibrant colours for our flight cases.

Flight cases using this Rigid PVC laminate allows printing in basic colours using either stencil or silkscreen. We also offer the latest in UV printing when full colour designs to a high standard are required.

Stock Availability: Usually available from stock.

Rigid PVC
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a strong, robust and lightweight plastic with excellent durability, and for these reason is often used in external and internal construction projects. It is made softer and more flexible by the addition of plasticizers, if no plasticizers are added, it is known as Rigid PVC

Fire Retarding Properties
Rigid PVC is highly fire resistant and helps to form a thermal barrier protecting underlying parts and produces no or very few flaming droplets or debris. When PVC products are burned the gas given off is detectable by its highly unpleasant odour at concentrations well below those that could be harmful to health, unlike many other plastics which can rapidly lead to paralysis and death.

Sustainability
Rigid PVC is highly recyclable.

3D Flight Cases - Standard HPL

Our Standard HLP laminate collection not only offers a wide selection of high-quality colour options but also a quality, durable laminate produced to the highest standards. Due to this high standard of the manufacturing process it offers an extremely strong, resistant to scratches, impact, abrasion, chemical substances, and heat, in fact, antibacterial and fireproof.
It is considered to be one of the most durable surface materials available.
Its high density smooth surface does not allow dirt to stick, is non-porous, does not suffer damage from UV rays and is not subject to discolouration.

We can apply this finish to our lighter 7mm flight cases and 19" rack cases, our standard 10mm and our most robust 13mm flight cases and 19" rack cases.

Flight cases constructed using this smooth HPL laminate allows printing in basic colours using either stencil or silkscreen. We also offer the latest in UV printing when full colour designs to a high standard are required.

Stock Availability: Usually available from stock.

HPL Laminate
HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is the direct descendent of the original plastic laminate. HPL is produced by impregnating papers with phenolic resin and then pressing under 100 – 120 kg/m2 pressure and 160 0C temperature for 60-70 minutes.
The laminate surface is non-porous and does not allow bacterial growth due to its surface being formed under both high pressure and high temperature.

Fire Retarding Properties
Temperatures changes do not affect its properties, often used in fireproof doors and conforms to EN 438-3

Sustainability
Non Recyclable.

3D Flight Cases - Phenolic Diamond Board

Diamond Board Flight Cases
Diamond Board Flight Cases

Diamond board flight cases, or to give the material it's full name, phenolic diamond board is a choice some of our customers prefer as a finish on their flight cases.

In the past known as Vameldeck flight cases (or misspelt Vamaldeck flight cases) after the original board manufactures name Vameldeck. Now no longer produced, other companies have taken up production of similar phenolic boards, offering various patterns and in some instances colour, sadly in many cases of varying quality.

3D Flight Cases use a high quality Birch plywood board hot coated with a brown 240gm phenolic resin film imprinted with a diamond pattern with a smooth brown 120gm phenolic reverse. These panels are available for our flight cases in 7mm, 10mm and for heavy use 13mm panels.

Phenolic board has many qualities, robust, durable, wear-resistant and also has good chemical and weather resistance. It is not only used in the manufacturing of flight cases but is also suitable for packing crates, van floors and other applications where good impact resistance is required.

The down side of flight cases making use of a phenolic board is it is generally only available in a muddy brown colour, not particularly aesthetically pleasing feature for many.
Added to this whilst stencilling is possible, high quality printing is not possible due to the contour of the pattern and the fairly rough face, which is why one of its other uses is for non-slip flooring.

Stock Availability: Usually available from stock.

Fire Retarding Properties
High quality phenolic as used by 3D Flight Cases will not support combustion until fire conditions are very severe and, once they are induced to burn will only release minimal quantities of smoke or toxic fumes. When phenolic composites do burn, a carbon char is rapidly formed which insulates and protects underlying material.

Sustainability
Non Recyclable.

Colour Disclaimer

This web-based colour guide can only provide a basic representation of colours used for our flight cases. Sadly colours viewed on a computer screen or printed will vary from one computer to another due to differences in monitor calibrations and printer configurations. For these reasons we cannot guarantee an exact match in colours and finishes in the flight case image displayed.

Not all available colours and finishes are shown on this page. If you are able to send us the RAL, Pantone, hexadecimal, RGB or CMYK colour reference we will do our best to match it to a laminate.

We can offer to match colours accurately with full colour printing for case panels and logos etc. using the latest in UV printing, please contact us for further details.
